"Marina & Isabel - O mundo em jogo"
Marina & Isabel is an international co-production by In.sub.missa – Artistic Research and Creation Platform (Portugal) and BarcoDrama (Mexico), supported by the IBERCENA 2025 Programme.
The production is also supported by the Municipality of Braga, CCDR Norte, the Embassy of Mexico in Portugal, and the Alberto Sampaio School Group.
Marina & Isabel was awarded the Óscar Liera National Playwriting Award in Mexico in 2021.
Isabel is the director of a multinational company, and this is her first visit to its largest branch on the other side of the world. Her goal is to confront Marina, the factory worker who has become the leader of the workforce.
This could be the story of any corporate takeover, but it is much more than that. It is the story of two women born without opportunities who managed to hold the world in their hands.
During the pandemic, the playwright considered erasing her own characters—and they know it. Determined to survive, they join forces and fight their own battle against being erased, struggling simply to exist. In today's world, marked by war and endless hatred, perhaps existence itself is our greatest achievement.
