Another international exchange within the Council of Europe's Quality Label Youth Centres Network
From 24 to 28 November, the Braga Youth Centre welcomed a delegation of youth workers from Finland, as part of a partnership with the Villa Elba Youth Centre. The visit was part of an intensive programme dedicated to sharing good practices, mutual learning and deepening the working methodologies with young people that characterise this European network of excellence.
Throughout the week, participants had the opportunity to learn about different aspects of Braga's youth ecosystem, involving entities, spaces, associations and projects that contribute to the participation, inclusion and development of young people in the city.
Key themes of the visit:
- Participatory Youth Policies
The delegation visited the Youth Department of the Municipality of Braga, exploring how young people participate in local decision-making processes and how formal structures are created to amplify the voice of young people.
- Community Work with Young People
Meetings were held with youth associations working in areas such as the environment, culture, human rights and volunteering. These organisations play an essential role in promoting active citizenship and community cohesion.
- Social Inclusion through Art and Sport
The visit included projects by the Red Cross Youth, Synergia, and Human Power Hub, entities that use creative and recreational methodologies to engage disadvantaged young people, strengthening skills and promoting well-being.
- Working with Young People
The team met with FAJUB – Federation of Youth Associations of the District of Braga, learning how a network approach can strengthen youth participation and boost the associative movement at the regional level.
- Non-Formal Education Methodologies
During the visit, moments of reflection, workshops and interactive activities were promoted, enhancing reciprocal learning and creating a safe space for dialogue between youth professionals from both countries.
